About Us
J.A.S. Design-Build is located in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle. We staff and support an in-house design department, a custom cabinet shop, and a general contracting group. With 60 employees, we combine the service and attention of a small company with the efficiencies and strengths of a large company. We strive to provide a process that is focused, creative, and collaborative, and a finished product that will be enjoyed for years.

Projects range from those designed to maintain the historic character of the existing residence, to those that take the house in a new but complementary direction. What are some of the benefits of design-build?
We believe that a successful project begins with good design work. While the basis of good design work lies in combining function and beauty, we believe that understanding the project budget is equally as important. Clearly and honestly discussing and establishing a project budget early in the process helps assess the project feasibility and informs the project design. Once a budget has been established, our designers work to design within the proposed budget.
Each designer is paired with a construction team at J.A.S. The construction team is able to provide feedback to the designer about the budget at various points during the design phase, as well as during construction. Because our design and construction teams are in the same building, this exchange of information is very efficient. We believe this efficiency benefits our clients and our company in terms of cost and time.

This is a letter of appreciation to you and your crew. We really can only sing praises to Reid and Jason for their work ethic and courtesy. They were always prompt to work and made themselves inconspicuous as much as possible. They cleaned up everyday, making the area around the work site very safe and kid-friendly…We really appreciated the fact that you were able to keep your promise of being on time and finishing the job as planned. This was a very nice change to what we previously had experienced on several other projects. And the most important point of all, a great job completed in restoring our house to more than our original plans.
